Michael Jordan Kids Jerseys — Bulls & UNC, Baby to Youth
Nobody’s kid remembers watching Michael Jordan play live — and that has never once stopped a kid from wanting the No. 23 jersey. Jordan gear gets handed down like a family story: a parent or grandparent pulls up the old highlights, and suddenly the Bulls red or the Carolina blue is the only jersey that matters. Both versions come in the full ladder here — infant 6M to 24M, toddler 2T to 4T, preschool 4 to 7, and youth XS to XL.

The North Carolina version is where the story starts — Jordan as a skinny freshman in Carolina blue, years before the Bulls dynasty:

Michael Jordan Kids Jersey Sizes, Explained
Basketball jerseys are cut looser and longer than tees, so the same kid often wears a size smaller in a jersey than in a hoodie. The full run for Jordan gear:
| Size | Typical weight | Typical length/height | Fit note |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6M, 12M, 18M, 24M (infant) | 12-24 lb | 26-33 in | Baby Jordan gear — mostly a photo-op size, and a great one |
| 2T, 3T, 4T (toddler) | 28-38 lb | 34.5-41 in | Sleeveless jerseys layer over a tee without bunching |
| 4, 5, 6, 7 (preschool) | 38-55 lb | 41-50 in | Numbered sizes — longer, slimmer cut than the T sizes |
| XS, S, M, L, XL (youth) | 45-95+ lb | 45-60 in | The real-deal sizes; throwback Bulls and UNC styles both live here |
- The droptail hem runs long on purpose. A Jordan jersey is supposed to hang a little — if your child is between sizes, the smaller one usually looks right first.
- Sleeveless means layering. Over a long-sleeve tee in January, on its own at a July pickup game — one jersey covers both seasons.
- A 4T is not a preschool 4. The T sizes are cut shorter and rounder for toddlers; the numbered sizes are the longer school-age cut.
- Wash it inside out. The old page’s care note still holds: garment inside out, tumble dry low, and the heat-sealed numbers last for years of hand-me-downs.

Two Jerseys, Two Chapters of the Same Story
Jordan’s college jersey is the one with the moment attached. In 1982, a freshman named Mike Jordan hit the shot that won North Carolina the national championship — Dean Smith’s first title — and the Carolina blue No. 23 has been a keepsake ever since. The Bulls chapter needs less explaining: six championships in eight years, two separate three-peats, and a statue outside the United Center that Chicago kids pose under with their arms spread like the Jumpman logo. Plenty of families end up with both jerseys, one from each parent — the UNC one from the college fan, the Bulls one from whoever grew up in the ’90s. There’s no rule that says a kid has to pick.
Raising a Chicago fan across sports? The Chicago Bears kids jerseys page covers the football side of the ladder, the baby Chicago Cubs page starts the baseball side at onesie size, and the Chicago baby apparel page pulls the Bulls into the city’s four-team baby roundup. Younger rungs of basketball live on the NBA toddler jerseys page, and the sizing questions every parent asks are collected on the kids jersey FAQ page.
Michael Jordan Kids Jersey FAQ
Bulls or North Carolina — which one do kids pick? Both sell year-round. The Bulls red is the iconic one; the UNC version tends to win in college households and anywhere March Madness runs the TV.
Do Jordan jerseys come in baby sizes? Yes — the North Carolina kids department carries a baby filter (6M to 24M), and the Bulls ladder starts at infant sizes too. At that age it’s mostly for photos, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
Why does the youth jersey feel big on my kid? Basketball jerseys are cut roomy with a longer droptail hem — that’s the style, not a sizing error. If it swallows them, drop one size; the armholes are generous either way.
Is Jordan a safe jersey to buy years ahead? He’s the safest name in the shop. Retired legends don’t get traded, which is exactly why grandparents keep buying No. 23 for kids who won’t fit it for two more birthdays.
